During the
late 1950’s, the Angas Engineering Company of South Australia marketed a
Direct-Drive outboard similar to the ATCO Boatimpeller. Adverts boasted “New
Unit Designed specifically for Tough Conditions. Weeds and Shallows mean
nothing to the new Angas Walco”.
The Angas
Walco was said to be easy to handle, with an ability to maintain its own
propeller working depth even in rough seas, however as with other outboards of
this type, it is their use in shallow water that gives them an advantage over
the more traditional outboard designs.
SPECIFICATIONS
The Angas Walco Direct-Drive Outboard was powered by Villiers air-cooled engines of 98 and 147cc capacity.
