In 1953, via his offices at 4 Lee Avenue, Beverley Hills,
NSW, a Mr. Tildesley advertised a 5hp single cylinder water-cooled outboard and
an 8hp two cylinder water-cooled inboard both bearing the name, C-POWA.
The outboard was advertised as being compact and sturdy and
made from 100% salt resistant, light weight aluminium. It boasted a purpose
built 125cc single cylinder, water-cooled engine with unique propeller driven
cooling system, forward mounted AMAL carburetter and twist grip throttle for
ease of speed control. A reed valve controlled the fuel-air mixture to the
carburettor, whilst also providing easier starting and smoother running at any
speed.
From a distance
the C-POWA outboard looks very much like a British Seagull 102 or Ferrier 120,
and whilst design inspiration may well have come from either, the C-POWA is
quite a unique outboard motor.
